The Challenger Cup returned for a special edition featuring 5 teams from the USA and 5 teams from Canada to answer the Challenge of who will take home the Challenger Cup.  Hosted by 2011 Little Caesars AAA Hockey, the games were played over 4 days cultivating with a nail biting finish held at USA Arena with the top US and top Canadian Division teams facing off for bragging rights, 1st overall.  In the final game of the series, Midfairfield vs Marlboros, an exhilarating game ending in a OT win by Midfairfield. Both teams showed why they deserved to be in the finals, no quit attitudes and all business.  Kudos to both teams, Midfairfield takes the Challenger Cup home in a bid to return to the next Challenger Series to defend it.  Who will be next to answer the Challenge?

Challenger Series Champions

6 teams were challenged to compete for the Challenger Cup in Detroit January 13-16, 2023. They all answered in full battle mode bringing it down to the very last round robin game to finalize playoff pairings. But Little Caesars was able to go to the end with a 7-0 record on the weekend and claiming the championship in dramatic fashion with a 3v3 OT win over the talented Chicago Reapers; scoring 3-2 with the over time goal coming 70 seconds in. All the teams showed the compete level that any team would be happy to play against. Little Caesars will keep the Cup until next year, who will be next?
